I thought you might want to know a bit about me. My name is Sandra Smith and this is about my personal journey. Enjoying my two small children and a successful career in corporate sales management, I could not have predicted the radical change in direction my life was about to take.

Suddenly stricken with a debilitating illness accompanied by excruciating pain, I found myself at the mercy of pharmaceutical-based methods of pain management. Frustrated and unwilling to accept this as the only solution, I felt compelled to seek out some other alternatives. I had to find some way to get control over the pain and subsequently, my life. Little did I realize that my quest to find a solution (not only for my own sake, but also that of my children) would result in a life-long wonderfully, fulfilling journey of not only physical, but also emotional and spiritual growth.

After trying other modalities, I found I had some success, but it was limited. I decided I had nothing to lose by trying hypnosis for pain control. I didn’t know if it would work, but I was desperate and willing to try anything. That one step, taken out of desperation, changed the whole direction of my life.

Once I found a clinical hypnotherapist and completed my sessions, I was able to drastically decrease the need for medication and began to feel well enough to return to work. After suffering years of pain, I felt I had been given back my life and was determined to make the most of it.

Although I felt intimidated, I got up my nerve and decided it was not too late to pursue my lifelong dream to attend university. In 1993, I enrolled at the University of the Fraser Valley and Simon Fraser University. I never looked back.

Since that time, I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Services, Hypnotist, Master Hypnotist, HypnoBirthing Practitioner, and Clinical Hypnotherapist Diplomas and a PhD in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

I am a certified member in good standing of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapist Association and the National Guild of Hypnotists.

I am also a member in good standing of The Canadian Kennel Club, the Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada, the Doberman Pinscher Club of British Columbia, and the MSA Museum Trethewey House in Abbotsford.  In addition,  I am involved with SacredLite Dobermans, Diva's Dog Den Designer Dogwear and Dasa Holdings Inc.

In 2005, I had a vision and opened Mountain Hypnotherapy and Wellness Centre. To compliment my practice, I also obtained diplomas in Psychological Testing and Analysis, Aromatherapy, Reiki Level II Practitioner and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.  I have a diversified background in psychology, educational psychology, sociology, interpersonal communications, history, English and teaching adult learners.

My focus is on a holistic approach to wellness that encompasses a balance of body, mind and spirit. I truly believe this to be the key to achieving true happiness and wellness. We are all “works in progress” and have tremendous potential within just waiting to be realized. I feel deeply honored to be a part of my client’s life journey.
